The Barefoot Story in Waco: Home of the Bears

Memorial Day Weekend, the Baylor Way Reading The Barefoot Story in Waco: Home of the Bears 3 minutes

Every Barefoot store has a story.

And in Waco, that story is built on tradition, community, and Baylor pride.

In 2014, Barefoot Campus Outfitter opened its Waco location, becoming Store #8 in the growing Barefoot family. By then, Barefoot had expanded beyond its Stephenville roots, but the mission remained the same: create a place where students, alumni, parents, and fans could find collegiate apparel that felt as authentic as the schools they love.

There was no better place to continue that journey than Baylor University.

Waco is a city that has always embraced its university. From the banks of the Brazos River to the heart of campus, Baylor's influence can be felt throughout the community. The traditions, the history, and the pride of Baylor Nation are woven into the fabric of the city itself.

That's what drew us to Waco.

Baylor isn't just a university. It's a community built on faith, tradition, excellence, and a shared connection that spans generations. Whether you're a freshman moving into your residence hall for the first time or an alum returning for Homecoming decades later, there's something special about being part of Baylor Nation.

From the moment we opened our doors, we could feel that connection.

We've seen incoming students shop for their first Baylor t-shirt before move-in day.

We've watched families prepare for football weekends at McLane Stadium.

We've helped graduates find alumni gear before walking across the stage.

And we've welcomed countless Bears back to Waco who simply wanted to reconnect with the university they love.

Those moments are what make college communities special.

They're also what make Baylor special.

One of the things we've always admired about Baylor is how deeply people care about the university. The green and gold aren't just colors. They're a symbol of memories, traditions, friendships, and experiences that last a lifetime.

You see it on game days.

You see it during Homecoming.

You see it when alumni return to campus years after graduation and immediately feel at home again.

That pride is what makes Baylor unique.

Over the years, we've had the opportunity to celebrate alongside Baylor Nation through championship seasons, unforgettable victories, graduation weekends, and countless milestones. As Baylor has continued to grow and evolve, we've been proud to grow alongside it.

But what hasn't changed is the sense of community.

The student picking out a hoodie before their first cold front in Waco.

The family shopping for gifts during Parents Weekend.

The alum searching for the perfect Baylor tee before a reunion.

The fan who proudly wears green and gold every chance they get.

Those moments happen every day, and we're grateful to be a small part of them.

Today, Barefoot continues to serve Baylor students, alumni, parents, and fans who proudly represent one of the most respected universities in the country.

Because while we may sell apparel, what we're really helping people celebrate is something much bigger.

Their school.

Their memories.

Their traditions.

Their Baylor story.

More than a decade after opening Store #8, we're still honored to be part of the Waco community and Baylor Nation.

And we're excited for all the stories still to come.
