The Barefoot Story in Columbia: Home of the Gamecocks

Some schools have traditions.

Some schools have pride.

The University of South Carolina has both.

In 2016, Barefoot Campus Outfitter opened its Columbia location, becoming Store #12 in the growing Barefoot family. As we continued expanding into some of the nation's most passionate college communities, one thing quickly became clear: South Carolina was exactly the kind of place we wanted to call home.

Because Gamecock pride is unlike anything else.

From the moment you step onto campus, you can feel it. Whether it's walking through the historic Horseshoe, hearing "Sandstorm" echo through Williams-Brice Stadium, or seeing garnet and black take over the city on game day, South Carolina's traditions run deep.

That's what drew us to Columbia.

At Barefoot, we've always believed college apparel is about more than clothing. It's about connection. It's about representing the school, community, and memories that become part of who you are.

And the University of South Carolina creates plenty of memories.

Over the years, we've watched thousands of students begin their college journey in Columbia.

We've seen incoming freshmen pick out their first Gamecock t-shirt before move-in day.

We've helped families gear up for football weekends and campus visits.

We've celebrated graduates preparing for life after college while proudly taking a piece of South Carolina with them.

And we've welcomed alumni back to campus who still feel the same excitement they felt years ago.

Those moments are what make this community special.

Because being a Gamecock doesn't end at graduation.

It's something people carry with them for life.

One of the things we've always admired about South Carolina is the loyalty of its fans. No matter where life takes them, Gamecocks never stop representing their school. The pride people have for the University of South Carolina stretches far beyond campus and can be found in every corner of the state and across the country.

You see it on football Saturdays.

You see it during Homecoming.

You see it when alumni return to Columbia and immediately feel at home.

That kind of connection is rare.

And it's one of the reasons we're proud to be part of the Gamecock community.

Since opening Store #12 in 2016, we've been fortunate to celebrate alongside South Carolina fans through unforgettable seasons, campus traditions, graduation weekends, and countless milestones.

We've seen firsthand what makes this university special.

The friendships.

The traditions.

The school spirit.

The memories that last long after college ends.

Today, our Columbia store continues to serve students, alumni, parents, and fans who proudly wear garnet and black. Whether you're shopping for your first South Carolina tee, preparing for game day, or searching for the perfect alumni gift, we're honored to be a small part of your story.

Because while Barefoot has grown over the years, every store starts with the same foundation: a great university and an incredible community.

That's exactly what we found in Columbia.

And we're proud to call ourselves part of Gamecock Nation.

Forever To Thee.
