Nestled between Austin and San Antonio, this vibrant Texas town is known for its beautiful river, lively downtown, and one of the fastest-growing universities in the state—Texas State University.
In 2013, Barefoot Campus Outfitter opened its doors in San Marcos, becoming one of several new locations helping expand the Barefoot family beyond its original roots in Stephenville. From the beginning, it felt like a natural fit.
Because if there's one thing San Marcos knows, it's school spirit.
Texas State is a university on the rise, but Bobcat pride has always been strong. Whether it's cheering from the stands at Bobcat Stadium, floating the San Marcos River with friends, celebrating Homecoming, or gathering in The Square after a big win, being a Bobcat is about more than attending a university—it's about being part of a community.
That's what drew us to San Marcos.
We wanted to create a place where students, alumni, parents, and fans could find apparel that felt as unique and energetic as the university itself. A place where school spirit and personal style could come together.
Over the years, we've watched thousands of Bobcats create memories that will last a lifetime.
We've seen incoming freshmen shop for their first Texas State t-shirt before move-in day.
We've helped families find the perfect game-day gear before football season.
We've celebrated graduates preparing for their next chapter while proudly taking a piece of Texas State with them.
And through it all, one thing has remained constant: the pride people feel for this university.
Texas State has grown tremendously over the years, and the San Marcos community has grown right alongside it. New traditions have emerged, athletic programs have reached new heights, and generations of students have found their place along the banks of the San Marcos River.
Barefoot has been fortunate to grow alongside that journey.
Today, our San Marcos store continues to serve Bobcats from every stage of life. Current students, incoming freshmen, proud alumni, parents, and lifelong fans all share one thing in common—a love for Texas State University.
That's what makes this location special.
It's not just about the apparel.
